I researched this faucet before I bought it. Read some of the reviews that weren't so glowing. But I liked the looks of it and decided to give it a go. I didn't attempt to install it myself. I called my plumber. The only problem he had was getting my old faucet out. Once that came out, installing went very quickly. I have to say, so far I am loving this faucet. I hate it when my hands are covered in flour or whatever and then getting it all over the faucet handle. This just takes a tap anywhere on the faucet or handle to turn the water on. I will say, you have to keep the water volume turned down a bit or the sprayer is like a power washer lol. If you have a shallow sink, this might not be the faucet for you because the sprayer will splash back. So far I am loving the faucet. We shall see how it holds up.So I installed this faucet about 3 weeks ago and figured it was worth sharing thoughts about it.First off this is not an easy install, especially if you have a deep sink to begin with (if you don't have a moderate to deep sink, don't purchase as I can see where it would go all over the place). I'm pretty adept at plumbing (I've sweated my own pipes together when necessary and have put on cut offs that way as well). I'd rate it about a mid grade to hard install since you have to actually be able to reach up and tighten all the fixtures by hand - you can't use a plumbers wrench or anything else. It took me about 3-4 hours working solo (including the removal of the old faucet and temporary removal of the garbage disposal and it's reinstallation) - the install time could have been decreased by at least an hour had I had a helper. Why a science experiment? Because generally water and electricity don't mix and because I want to see just what part of this contraption fails first. That said, it's pretty neat in design and looks great! We chose this model as my wife saw it at a friends house and liked the styling and functionality. We cook a lot in our family and having slimy hands from xyz meat product / egg, it great that it can be tapped with clean forearm and voila! water to rinse and wash with.Parts of this kit that may cause some concern. They ask you to attach about a 2 inch piece of metal tubing directly to your shut off valve. Inside their is a (replaceable ?) plastic check valve with a screen on it. For those with lots of calcium deposits, I can see where this would make this product a no-go right off the bat. The calcium is going to build up on the screen and in the check valve and just not deliver adequate water pressure. If you have a water treatment system for your whole house, I think you'd be fine but you've been warned. The second aspect that I wasn't crazy about was that between the check valves and the faucet and then from the faucet to the control solenoid there are all plastic flexible piping. I'm assuming this is NOT the polybutylene know for failures, but I'd prefer solid copper tubing. This tubing is then pushed into the solenoid receiver and then held on by a plastic clip. MAYBE advances in technology have come a long way, MAYBE not. I'm a skeptic, but my guess is that the manufacturer expects that the styling on this faucet is going to go out of date before any major failures occur and/or you'll replace it before it leaks for some other reason. The faucet was supposed to come with a set of 6 AA batteries for the power source for the solenoid but 3 of my fell out of the packaging enroute to my house. I didn't complain to Amazon despite the box had been dinged up in shipment pretty bad, but all the other parts were intact and in great condition. What this did teach me is that instead of the 6 AA, you can replace them with C batteries in the battery pack. If I start to have a short life on the AA's I'll definitely move the the C's.I'll throw a post up when the batteries exhaust themselves. We are in a household of 4 so it gets plenty of use.Splash concerns - Our sink sits 7 1/2 inches below the edge of our countertop. It's stainless steel. If the faucet is turned on full blast we get some minor splash up around the sink. I'm messy when I was dishes and so this occurred even with my much shorter old faucet. If I'm really trying to keep the water in the sink, I just don't open the handle to full. At 3/4 there is plenty of water to work with and you don't get splash up. Although the neck of the faucet is listed as being I think 7 inches out , with the angle of the spray head, functionally water hits about 3-4 inches closer to the user.Other thoughts on the planning / install phase. You don't really need more space that about 1/2 from the faucet base to the back splash as the handle doesn't have the ability to turn back. It's range of motion is from vertical to about 90 degrees directly in front of the sink. The install instructions conveniently have pictures showing the install of this faucet as there being no sink present. Indeed if you haven't installed your sink yet, this install will be a breeze (maybe an 45 minutes) The length of time to get this done by a person working solo is tough because it's super difficult to tighten the plastic bolts sufficiently while still keeping the faucet aligned forward and in the right position. I ended up jamming some scrap wood between the faucet handle and the backsplash to hold it in place while I tighten the plastic nut under the sink holding the faucet base in place. I had an incredibly difficult time getting the nut hand tight enough so I actually placed two flat screw drivers on either side of the plastic nut and pushed on them to tighten the nut. This is where I could have used my extended plumbers wrench had the nut been appropriately shaped or made of something besides plastic.Once installed, my wife has been thrilled with it, so it almost got 5, but I'm sticking with 4 stars so far. I can't give it 5 due to the PIA it was to install and the significant number of plastic parts involved. It's a stylistic and functional faucet. The no touch feature does take some relearning on your part, but it's great not to have to touch the handle to turn it on. Time will tell on this fascinating experiment in science. It's a decent faucet, the only complaint I have is the button to switch over the stream of water to the shower is hard to push. And the Shower isn't very powerful. My previous one was much more pressurized so I know it's not my water pressure, but the faucet. They say it has a magnet in the connection for the head/hose, but It doesn't feel like it's very strong. Which I guess is good if it's there? But I hope it doesn't wear out. (that was my issue with the last faucet I had)I know things are more expensive these days, but this one seems a little bit overpriced. We love this faucet! You can touch it anywhere and it comes on. You can also swing the faucet and it understands you are moving it and it doesn't come on. It has a temp light so when you turn on the water you know how hot/cold the water is when it comes out. We live in Arizona so June thru Sept our cold water is 85 degrees and up so we just keep it on cold but we get warm enough water wash dishes. Hope you like it too.I'm a big fan of these faucets. They're a bit addictive once you get used to them and you'll find yourself getting annoyed every time you have to use an "old style" faucet. Other than the easy on/off, the nice part is that you can set the water at the flow & temp you like and then every time you use the faucet, it just comes on there. Its a small thing that makes a bigger difference than you think (assuming you don't live with someone who is constantly setting it to some other flow & temp!). The battery power works fine although if you want a more painless install, get the power adapter. In a future version, I hope they will implement touch zones so you can directly select hot or cold simply by touching one side or the other of the faucet.I purchased the manual faucet (open box). This was a great deal for $115 no scratches it even came with the tool to screw it on and on top of all that Delt has lifetime guarantee. Quick tip: The counter weight was barely pulling the spray head back in the the faucet assembly, so i added the wieght from my old faucet problem solved. Good buyThe Delta brand delivers quality and style. We replaced an Ikea faucet that never really worked well. I can't count the number of times my family sprayed water all over the kitchen. The Delta Essa faucet looks great, was so easy to install and operates flawlessly. I really like the dual option for spray and regular water flow. A great addition to my kitchen. After less than 2 years,1- The plastic/rubber is degrading and when you pull the faucet it does not go back to its original position as it was new. There is a space left (see picture) and this is due to the rubber inside coming out a few millimeters and degraded.2- The option Touch on & off, stopped working.3- if you run out of batteries, it will stop working. You must always have batteries at home.Update:I have contacted the company and they sent me 3 sets of magnets to fix the issue. I did and it looks new. I have solved the Touch on & Off by replacing the battery with power. I think it was not working because the battery was getting weak. The reviews on this product are not from the uk. Bought it and plumber eventually got it working however it will only give you warm water. Needs a different connection. It’s now in the bin. Waste of time.At my old house I had installed a Moen with MotionSense. It was pretty cool and easy to use, but was occasionally annoying with false triggers. I quite liked not having to touch the faucet at all and always having the water temp set for hands free use regardless of the handle position. For some reason the Moen MotionSense faucets are now wildly more expensive now and much more than the Delta, so when I finally got tired of dirty/wet handles at the new house I decided to give this Delta a try.As far as installation goes, its no easier or harder than any other kitchen faucet I've installed. If your plumbing is newer it will be easy, if its ancient, prepare for the worst. The water control unit and battery pack on the Delta was a fair bit simpler than the Moen, as the Moen control unit works independently of the handle setting it requires multiple water line connections whereas the Delta unit only has 1 in/1 out because it relies on the handle position for water temp and pressure. As far as usage goes, I found the water pressure to be very good. Better than my old faucet, and stronger than I remember the Moen being. The spray head is a bit different for several reasons: i) the button to switch from full to spray is a bit trickier to press than other faucets I use, and retains its setting between uses (most other faucets I've used go back to full position by themselves), ii) it only has a full or spray setting, no hold/off position iii) the spray pattern is actually quite narrow, not much wider than the full position water stream, unlike other more common spray heads that radiate outwards - the farther you spray the wider the spray, this one sprays in a straight line iv) when pulling out the spray head it doesn't tug the hose back firmly, so you guide the hose out and guide the hose back where the magnet then grabs the head. I notice the hose weight underneath is different too. Most sprayers on a hose have a weight attached to the hose to tug the spray head back in. This Delta has a weight, but its loosely around the hose not firmly attached so I think this makes the pull out and tug back force a bit lighter. Finally, the touch features. It works, not much more I can say. If you've left the handle in the right position a quick back of the hand tap gets things going without too much mess and fuss. If the previous user closed the handle, then you have to go back to the handle to get water. Family members still need reminding. The finish I chose doesn't show a lot of touch marks and is easy to clean when they do start to show up. I do miss the Moen always being at the right setting all the time, but it's certainly a lot easier to adjust the Delta if you don't have people messing with the handle too often (the Moen required adjusting a tiny wheel on the control box under the sink).I do like the water temp light at the front, bonus feature. So in summary, the Moen did some things better, the Delta does other things better, but this time, Delta's better price won the day.I love this faucet. The Touch2O is definitely a luxury item, but it is so convenient. I have my temperature usually always at warm, with the pressure set to half, and then all you do is touch the top with one finger! After installing I found I use significantly less water, as I can turn it off and on much quicker, and because it's so much quicker Iturn it off and on, during times that I otherwise would have let it keep running ( say between washing potatoes, I now turn it off during the 2 seconds it takes to put down one potato and pick up the second one to wash. )It is definitely high quality and I found it easy to install. The spray function stays on spray until you change it back. I like faucets that change back to the normal mode, but slipping hairs at this point. On an unrelated note, the documentary Earthlings changed my life. I suggest everyone watch it.Delta really has its act together when it comes to making faucets easy to install for a DIY'er like me. Installing a faucet like this used to require a special wrench to tighten a nut in a tight space where neither your hands nor a traditional wrench would go...a total pain in the butt. There's none of that with Delta's method. They give you a special wrench (be sure to keep it) to help you tighten that awkward nut. And once you have things relatively tight under there, all you need to do to tighten it up rock-solid, is to tighten 2 screws with a screwdriver – really easy and convenient. Connecting to the hot & cold water supply lines was easy, and finishing the hookup by connecting the main water hose – the one that you pull out to extend the spray head – was a snap...just push the hose into a fitting, and snap on a clip to keep it there. It just doesn't get any simpler. It took me 1 hour 15 minutes to remove my old (similar, but leaking) non-Delta faucet and install this one. Done correctly, the faucet will be rock solid.I really like the MagnaTite Docking, which keeps the spray head firmly attached to the faucet when it's not extended. The magnet is sufficiently strong to snap it back into place, but not so strong that you're stressing the faucet when you pull the spray head out.My one complaint would be the spray pattern. The spray comes out in a cylindrical shape...it doesn't expand out like a cone for greater coverage. As a result, your spray coverage is quite compact. So it takes a bit more effort to rinse off a big frying pan. When you toggle the switch to engage the spray, it stays that way, even if you turn off the water. One of the reasons I chose Delta is their lifetime warranty. And they stand behind it. A couple months ago, I got a replacement shower control cartridge from them free of charge...I installed the original in 2004.All in all, I'm very happy with this faucet. I think anyone who's willing to read the instructions and follow them, can install this faucet in less than 2 hours.
