2 of these were purchased. 1 is used in the kitchen at the sink area to hold a metal sponge that is small. The usual sponge is too big to place inside this container. I have to put the sponge on top. I think that this unit can be shorter because I cannot put that much in there since the metal sponge is small. It takes up too much space in my opinion. On the counter in my bathroom I have the 2nd one of these to hold my facial 'sponge' or cloth. It does look good on the counter.
