Cheap materials. Paint scratches easily. Screws strip easily. The 2 screws that attach the base of the top half to the bottom section weren’t long enough, so we had to drill the holes deeper to make it work. This is in part because the cross pieces at the top of the bottom half aren’t flush at the top with the side pieces, & in part because the stop ledge of the screw holes simply weren’t drilled deep enough to begin with.Stickers that mark the pieces are too sticky & I can’t get them off without leaving sticky stuff behind & scratching the paint. Given the price, I expected a little bit better quality.Instructions were easy to follow. All the pieces were there. Once it’s together, it’s fairly sturdy. It’s light enough that it’s pretty easy to move around.I ordered this expecting to have to do some fixing/modifying due to all the poor reviews. I put this thing together with no issues or frustrations. I stood on it and it held up all 190 pounds of me no problem. I would strongly recommend this stool it is a bargain. The instructions were ikea style drawings. Fairly clear to read. I have a few tips so this thing goes together well. First off try and get all fasteners in for each piece before tightening them. Second if things aren't lining up loosen all the fasteners going into the piece about half way. An example is the two screws that hold the top platform on. There was about a 1/4 inch gap between the pieces and the bolt would not thread in. I loosened both ends and I could gently push down and take up the gap and get my bolt started. I tightened the bolt to draw it tight against the platform then re tightened the end screws I loosened. Also very important the cross brace pieces have the ends cut on a very slight angle, its hard to even see and is not mentioned in the directions. Mine the stickers went up to install these in the right orientation. Basically the stool is getting slightly narrower as it goes upward so orient the angle so the smaller side is up. hope that makes sense. Some people said their bolts were too long and went through the platform, its possible they may have included the wrong bolt length for those people. I would just be careful when you get to this step incase they included the wrong length bolts. It is also possible they put the screws in instead of the bolts which would break the wood and go through the platform like they describe.TLDR: stool is great but could be assembled incorrectly. don't rush and ask someone mechanical for help if needed.Pretty easy to assemble and it is perfect for my toddler in terms of height and features. He even uses it as a high chair for meals. But after a month of use, it fell apart. I repaired it with additional screws and now it is extra sturdy but it shouldn’t have broken in the first place.I saw this didn’t have a review yet so i took a chance and am writing the first one now. The assembly was really easy every piece was labeled according to the easy to read instructions. Comes with all tools/parts needed to assemble. Even comes with grip strips. Really nice stool I can’t wait to use it with my toddlerGreat product. Only negative I have to say about it is the opening of the kid to step into it is really small. My 18 month old has a hard time fitting threw it. But once they get a little bigger you can just remove itWhile this works with some extra adjustments. I have seen better step helpers. The edges are very square and cold be sanded or rotated to ease them. Also some pieces that are single dowels should be double to keep it from turning. Not the best.I thought this was a steal for the price when most similar items are over $100, I now know why. Overall in theory it would of been very simple to put together. However, due to manufacturer defects that was not the case. Two of the pre-drilled holes on different pieces did not line up. This was of course at the end of assembly. It caused the whole unit to not come together properly. Since we had it mostly all together and did not want to hassle with taking it all apart and sending it back we made it work with some wood glue and new screw holes added by us. The entire unit was unlevel one put together as well and required adding additional material to one leg to make it not rock. Not a terrible product and don't know if all of them are like this but I would recommend a close inspection of all pieces lined up before actually assembling.
